Gayot, the "guide to the good life" that began chronicling and reviewing restaurants, hotels and travel more than 40 years ago, just released its annual restaurant issue and has named Jean Joho the best restaurateur in the U.S. The online magazine praised the Alsatian chef for his ability to successfully run high-end and casual spots like Everest and Paris Club in Chicago, Brasserie Jo in Boston and Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas.
In addition, Gayot named Everest as one of its top 40 best restaurants in the U.S. Both Alinea and Tru also made the list from Chicago, as did Vie in Western Springs. It also released its best new restaurants list that included GT Fish & Oyster. Surprisingly, Next was given an honorable mention in that category.
