Celebrated master sommelier Larry Stone, who more than 20 years ago was named the best international sommelier in French wines at the prestigious Grand Prix de Sopexa, will return to oversee the wine program at Charlie Trotter's for the restaurant's last five months before closing in August after 25 years.
Stone first joined Trotter's in 1989, the restaurant's second year, after serving as master somm at the Four Seasons here. He stayed with Trotter's through 1993 before moving to San Francisco to open the now-closed Rubicon with restaurateur Drew Nieporent. Stone most recently has served as president of California's Evening Land Vineyards, which focuses on estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
