D-Rose dunks on Trump
RIVER NORTH— Hometown hero Derrick Rose made a statement purchase by locking down an upper floor Trump Tower condo this week. We had a feeling that was his style. He even dunked on it! Really, come see.
STREETERVILLE— Maybe you've heard by now, the winning Navy Pier Redesign team has been selected from the group of finalists. Landscape architect James Corner and a diverse team of artists and architects will get to work on finalizing designs, which may end up varying significantly from the concepts recently put before the public (due to cost and the potential for incorporation of competing teams' elements). The choice to go with the Corner proposal seems like the responsible one given budgetary constraints.
HYDE PARK— On University Ave alongside the University of Chicago campus sit the landmark Keck-Gottschalk-Keck Apartments. An early works by local modernist masters the Keck brothers, the simple International Style building brought a little Bauhaus to Hyde Park back in the mid-thirties. We paid it a virtual visit yesterday because one of its co-op units is for sale. A top floor 3-bed with a huge terrace, roof rights, and a garage, the ask is just $350K.
STREETERVILLE— Here's another on-the-market treat, but priced closer to the high end of the spectrum. The listing agent went a little bonkers with her superlatives, but the place is pretty deserving. We talking about the penthouse at the ultra-brawny and ornate Lake Shore Place (formerly the American Furniture Mart). It's got panoramic views, 17' ceilings, marble floors, and a lofted master bedroom. Come see!
