Get the first taste of this year's Dose Market on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at River East Art Center. Although winter is still in season, spring will be in the air at this special edition of Lovely Dose.
Eat your way through dozens of vendors starting with sour cream coffeecakes, chocolate croissants and peppered bacon farm bread from Zingerman’s Bakehouse. Pair those with some granola in a variety of flavors from Vanishing Granola for the perfect morning meal.
Vera’s Mark Mendez will be on hand with a Spanish market of stew, seafood salad, Iberico ham, anchovy-stuffed olives and beet salad. JDY Imports will complement that with its selection of Spanish olive oils, canned seafood, white beans, pork and sausage.
Ripasso chef Theo Gilbert debuts with hot, handmade pastas and takeaway meals for two. Or indulge in an artisan grilled cheese by Cheese Dream. Charcuterie from Smoking Goose and vegetarian banh mi and spring rolls from Saigon Sisters are sure to keep both carnivores and vegetarians pleased.
The fermentation-inspired pop-up Pickled will be a match made in heaven for pickled vegetable lovers. The stand, created by chef Mark Steuer (Bedford) and mixologist Clint Rogers (The Gage, Henri), features small bites, brine-based cocktails (can you say Elmer Fudd?) and pickled baby carrots, Hakurai turnips, cremini mushrooms and more. If pickled sips aren’t your drink of choice, enjoy complimentary whiskey and rum cocktails by Femme du Coupe.
Stock your fridge with pimiento cheese, burrata and gelati from Zingerman’s Creamery. Burton’s Maplewood Farm will supply your pantry with rum, brandy and bourbon-infused syrups, and Mama’s Nuts new chocolate-almond brittle is a treat for all.
Providing the beverages will be Ipsento with coffee, Senteamental Moods with teas and Jo Snow with sodas. Leave dessert to pies from almost-open Bang Bang Pie, and flourless sweets by Defloured.
What more incentives do you need? Purchase tickets for $10 at the door or $8 online.
