Casteel Coffee Reopening in New Location

New, 3 comments

Last month, Evanston's Casteel Coffee announced that after 20 years it would be shutting down operations. But now the coffee roaster/cafe has changed its tune and will be making a comeback. Casteel, which also had a satellite location in the Aqua building in Streeterville, will move to a new location on Central Street, likely closer to Green Bay and not far from the cafe's original roots as the Bean Counter Cafe.

Owner Carol Harris said they will still roast beans on site, but will have a smaller production with a small-batch roaster in the front of the shop. In addition, she's bringing on two new partners, Joel Frankel and Helen Rosenberg, who are married musicians with a long history with the Old Town School of Folk Music. Harris said they also hope to expand the menu and add beer and wine to their offerings. "Basically, we are going back to our Bean Counter Cafe roots," Harris said, "and then some!"
