When LM shuttered in July, it was uncertain whether or not owners Stephan and Nicole Outrequin Quaisser would open something new in the spot or move on to their other ventures (LM Brasserie, Brasserie 54 by LM). They have moved on and now, the newly formed restaurant group, Community Food + Wine, run by David Breo (NoMi, Spiaggia), and partners opens Gather.
Slated to open on December 11, chef Ken Carter (Charlie Trotter's, Cibo Matto) plans a menu of simple yet sophisticated, contemporary American food. There will be an opportunity to see his food up close as the restaurant plans to have an open kitchen with a granite six-seat counter top that allows diners to interact with the chef.
The menu is broken out into four sections: gather and share, shared plates that include branade with roasted garlic, lemon confit, potato blini or roasted cauliflower with golden raisins, grapes, lentil and curry; and appetizers, like uovo raviolo with ricotta, sweet jalapeno, pancetta and white truffle butter. Entrees that include a pan-seared walleye with parsley purée, oat risotto and creamy molé; and desserts like a classic sticky bun or apple fritter. There will also be a wine list with over 60 selections and craft cocktails as well. Take a look at the opening menu below.
According to Breo, "We wanted to create a place that would
suit friends wanting to share killer food and drinks after an evening out, as well as couples looking to enjoy a nice dinner and a great bottle of wine without having to go downtown and drop a lot of cash."
Gather will be open Sunday through Wednesday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday 5 p.m. until 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5 p.m. to midnight.
