The Boarding House, the hotly anticipated new monster restaurant with a wine elevator, will open to the public on December 20, a little over a week from today. And inch a little closer to the screen: they're taking reservations for 12/20 now (312-280-0720, Cellar@BHChicago.com) and looking to "softly" open the 100-seat first floor walk-in bar and the 75-seat cellar by the end of this week.
The multi-level River North project comes from sommelier and Check, Please! host Alpana Singh and chef Christian Gosselin, who plans on serving French-inspired progressive American food. The wine list will be 450 wines deep, and the food menu (which will be released in the coming week will offer pizzas and charcuterie in the casual bar and seafood towers, braised meats, house made pastas, steak and variety of seafood entrees in the more formal upstairs dining room. And a bonus: all the bread at the restaurant will all be made in-house by baker Julia Fitting. More to come as they inch closer to an opening.
