The results are in, and after a series of six pop-up dinners at Table, Donkey and Stick with different chefs competing for the main gig, Chef Scott Manley (formerly of Vie and EL Ideas) has emerged victorious. Manley prepared a half boar during his pop-up dinner, but the thing that really gave him the edge was his level of service. One of the restaurant's owners, Matt Sussman, talked to Grub Street about the competition: "It was incredibly competitive— the pop-up dinners alone yielded no clear winner. The strength of Scott's leadership and experience in the kitchen, and his full embrace of the concept— he was the only candidate to butcher half a boar and a dozen chickens, or to source the delicious Alpine cheese he served in his cheese course— set him just a bit ahead of the rest of the field." Sussman and his partner, Shin Thompson hope to open the weekend of December 15, but diners can expect pop-up dinners the week before.
As a reminder, Table, Donkey and Stick is a restaurant in the former Bonsoiree space where the food is inspired by the Alps.
