After taking over the now-shuttered Ciao Napoli Pizzeria next door, the team behind Telegraph began the build out on what would become Reno. Now they are gearing up to open the American osteria, which will have both daytime and dinner menus, either Nov. 28 or 29.
While chef Johnny Anderes is overseeing everything, the menus will be truly implemented by Elliot Green (Avec, Green Zebra) and pastry chef Katie Wyer (Telegraph).
The full menu has not been released, but Reno gave Eater a teaser to share. The daytime menu features housemade wood-fired bagels in the restaurant's wood-burning pizza oven. Bagels varieties include sesame, poppy seed and olive & herb with accompanying shmears like white cheddar cream cheese, whipped tofu and nut butter. Wyer will also offer numerous pastries like a snickerdoodle muffin and deviled egg quiche that will go perfectly with a cup of Stumptown coffee.
Lunch sandwiches include the Cowboy Killer (maple fennel sausage, fried egg, American bechamel and rajas), Pine (fried chicken thigh, white cheddar, dill pickles and hot honey) and Hook (togarashi lox, spicy pickled cucumber, avocado tartar sauce and red onion)—and all sandwiches can be made into salads.
Dinner will offer housemade pastas like cavatelli (acorn squash, apple cider, spinach, golden raisin and pepitas) and the fusili bucatini (lamb neck ragu, grilled peppers, crispy eggplant and fiore sardo) and wood-fired 14-inch pizzas like the Hog (pork belly carnitas, salsa verde, mozzarella, rajas and cotija cheese) and the Beetza (shaved beets, hazelnuts, thyme and roasted garlic).
Remember this is just a teaser and the menu will be more robust and have flexibility to accommodate all sorts of diners. The pastas, save the pappardelle are vegan. The goal is to be a fun, casual neighborhood spot with quality food and wine at approachable prices.
When the restaurant, which is being design by fcStudio, opens next week, it'll be open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to midnight.
