For a few years, you could only get Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp's delicious fare at either their Sunday Dinner Club underground dinners or at Green City Market where they served up some of the best burgers around. But now that they've found a home for their forthcoming fast-casual counter spot, Honey Butter Fried Chicken, you'll get to eat their food anytime you want.
Cikowski contacted Eater this morning with the announcement that after looking for a location for a year they've taken over the La Finca Mexican restaurant space at 3361 N. Elston (at Roscoe) in Avondale from a family who had the restaurant for two decades. The 60-seat spot with hidden tin ceilings also comes with what she described as a "preeeety amazing backyard patio" with plenty of trees and already-strung-up lights.
The addition of HBFC to this location ups the attraction for foodies who already flock to nearby Hot Doug's, Kuma's Corner and Urban Belly. Cikowski and Kulp, along with their business partners, Jen Mayer and Chris Jennings, are shooting to open HBFC in the spring to serve their locally sourced honey-butter-topped fried chicken. They'll also offer seasonal side dishes and desserts with ingredients found at the markets and have craft beer, wine and specialty cocktails.
Once HBFC opens in the spring, they'll be open for lunch and dinner and watch for backyard parties in the beer garden.
