Bar Pastoral, the new cheese, charcuterie and wine bar from the folks behind Pastoral, is opening tonight. Eater was able to get a sneak peek two weeks ago while the finishing touches were being made. The finished product is a 50-seat cozy, inviting space with soft yellow walls and exposed brick. The ceilings are carved out to resemble a cheese or wine cave. Chalkboards with seasonal offerings and photographs from photographer and cheese expert Christine Hyatt adorn the walls.
Chef and Top Chef hopeful Chrissy Camba has created a menu focused on grazing and sharing. There are plenty of cheese and meat options, and bar snacks like pizza nuts with peanuts, almonds, pumpkins seeds, podda; Merguez stuffed apricots with labne, bacon and cilantro; and smaller plates like smoked trout chowder with trout roe potato and chives. If you are in the mood for something a little larger try the duck leg confit with squash, crispy lentils, apple and mint. Go ahead, check out the full food menu, wine and beer by the glass list below.
