Antique Taco Dressing as "The Max" for Halloween; Scofflaw as Bonny's

New, 6 comments

It looks like Lula Cafe isn't the only restaurant dressing up for Halloween this year. Instead of spoofing on a current Chicago spot, Antique Taco will morph into The Max, the local diner from '90s cult sitcom Saved By The Bell.

The staff will dress up as members of the cast and the decor will be completely revamped to look like a diner on Oct. 31 from noon to 10 p.m. The menu will comprise a variety of diner food like hot dogs, burgers, fries and shakes, each named after the personality of one of the characters.

Enjoy selections like the Lisa (sweet & sassy), an order of fried pickles with buttermilk ranch and smoked onion mustard; the Jessie (politically correct), a grilled portobello burger with red Thai curry, cabbage & carrot slaw and crispy onion and arugula; and the Zack (the star), hot dog, diner chili, cheddar, bacon, smoked onions, pickled peppers and mustard.

Once you are done stuffing your face, head toward Logan Square to Scofflaw, which is dressing as former late-night hang, Bonny's, which closed last month. Hit the linoleum dance floor with your PBR and shot of bourbon, which will only cost you five bucks. The party will be bumpin' from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. with tunes from DJs Travas and Johnnie Walker. There may be even be an appearance from the tamale guy who used to make a regular stop at Bonny's.
