Endangered Bluefin Tuna Gets Record Price

New, 1 comment

Bluefin-Tuna-150.jpgHow much would you pay for a piece of fish? Japanese sushi chain Sushi-Zanmai paid $736,000 for a 593-pound bluefin tuna. Chain president Kiyoshi Kimura said he bought to cheer up customers after last year's earthquake. The fish was so expensive because bluefin tuna is now extremely rare and governments have placed strict limits on how many can be caught each season. Eater National has a gallery of photos of the gargantuan fish. [~E~]
