Alpana Singh's New Venture is The Boarding House

There was speculation that Alpana Singh's new wine bar/restaurant would land in River North and now it has been confirmed. The Check, Please! host, who is partnering with Matt Fisher and John Ward of Bistronomic, will open The Boarding House in a historic, multi-level building at 720 N. Wells sometime this summer.

The name is a nod to the building's history, which at one time was a boarding house where travelers would come to eat, sleep and be social. The team is still vetting prospective chefs, but Singh, a master sommelier, said the menu will be driven by her wine program.

"The Boarding House will be a sommelier-driven restaurant where the wine program will inspire the menu," she said in a press release. "During my travels, I often discover amazing wine and food experiences and I will now have an opportunity to share these culinary souvenirs with our guests."
