It's a feat for any restaurant to last even a year, but to go two decades while still pulling in good business is truly reason to celebrate. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of Coco Pazzo by owner Jack Weiss.
To mark the amazing milestone, Weiss has a few events planned. This week, the River North Tuscan restaurant is holding Italian wine week where all wines during lunch and dinner are 20 percent off, and at lunch, you can enjoy tastes of six different Italian varietals poured at the table at no cost to you.
Then, on Feb. 2, Weiss is throwing Coco Pazzo's 20th Anniversary Gala Benefit at the restaurant (300 W. Hubbard). Chef Chris Macchia and pastry chef Stephanie Mazzone will prepare a grand feast paired with plenty of Italian wine during this salute to Italian opera. Either call the restaurant (312-836-0900) or order the $125 tickets online. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center of Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Finally, the restaurant is releasing a line of its own extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, both of which will be available at Coco Pazzo and Coco Pazzo Cafe.
