The Green Tie Ball is back to celebrate its 20th year and more than 60 Chicago chefs and food trucks have signed on for the event with the theme of Return to Emerald City. The party, which benefits Chicago Gateway Green to help beautify the city, will take place on Sept. 17 at A. Finkl & Sons industrial park.
The black, or rather green, tie affair features live music, auctions, premium open bars and complimentary valet. But more important, it's going to have a helluva lot of food. Dishes will be doled out from a number of top restaurants like RL, Province, David Burke's Primehouse, Quartino, Prosecco, Four Seasons, the Drawing Room, Mexique, Gibson's and more. In addition, four food trucks—5411 Empanadas, Bergstein's NY Deli, Sweet Ride and the Slide Ride—will be on site.
To make the evening a little more exciting, Supreme Lobster is holding the finals to its Chef Challenge, which will pit four chefs—Phillip Foss (EL), Andrew Brochu (EL), Andrew Zimmerman (Sepia) and Giuseppe Tentori (who will collaborate with Matt Waterman and Jessica Carney, both from GT Fish & Oyster)—against in each as they vie for the $1,000 prize.
The chefs will compete in front of a live audience and be judged by Louisa Chu (Blackboard Eats), Kate Bernot (The Feast), Supreme Lobster president Dominic Stramaglia and past winner Aaron McKay. Also, a special guest judge spot will be awarded to someone at the event.
Tickets for the event are $125 in advance for general admission ($175 at the door) and $250 for VIP tickets. VIP entry starts at 6:30; GA at 8:30. The party goes until 1 a.m. and you can get tickets online now.
