Flourish Bakery to Close Sept. 11 Due to Rising Food Costs

New, 3 comments

Despite solid efforts to become part of the community and deliver fresh baked goods on a daily basis to the neighborhood, Flourish Bakery & Cafe will close its doors on Sept. 11.

The timing is disappointing, just when Bryn Mawr is starting to see some new businesses open, but in an email to customers, Flourish said that, "due to growing food costs and ongoing economic realities, we were unable to ... well, Flourish."

In the last year, Flourish introduced a direct-to-home fresh bread delivery service and family night dinner events. The bright and welcoming bakery will definitely be missed, if the comments on its Facebook page are any indication. The bakery will officially shut it doors at 5 p.m. on Sept. 11, but is open all this week during its normal business hours.
