On Saturday night, the Boiler Room had to close down for dinner service just when things should have started to get rolling. The Logan Square spot known for its pizza (especially its $7.50 PBJ—pizza, beer and Jameson shot—special) had its power shut off around 7 p.m. when a transformer blew in the alley behind the business.
This then caused a small electrical fire, but because the restaurant had already closed for service when it lost power, no one was injured and, according to a restaurant employee, the damage was fairly minimal. The Boiler Room remained closed for the rest of the night, but reopened on Sunday without incident.
