Playboy is coming back to Chicago. The Playboy Club that is. The famed nightlife spot, which first opened in Chicago back in 1960 and was at one time the busiest nightclub in the world, is in talks to take over the building that currently holds Italian restaurant Il Mulino, Crain's reports.
Plans for the location have not yet been finalized, but this would be the first time in 25 years that Chicago has had a Playboy Club, but it seems pretty coincidental that they're talking about relaunching the brand at the same time NBC is introducing The Playboy Club, a new show premiering Sept. 19.
If Playboy takes over Il Mulino, the same mansion that housed Biggs for many years, word is that property owner Fred Latsko will move the restaurant into a new built-out space next door at 1154-1156 N. Dearborn. However, the Il Mulino team at its base in New York said it's unfamiliar with any plans to move the restaurant, according to Crain's. While neighbors may object to its creation, the Playboy Club is scheduled to open sometime in the first quarter of 2012.
