Don't get caught up trying to figure out where to eat on Saturday; Time Out Chicago already did that for you. Between noon and 10 p.m. tomorrow, head over to the Food Truck Social, taking place on Ashland Avenue between Chicago and Huron. The food fest will be anchored by food truck pioneer Matt Maroni's Gaztro-Wagon, which will see a rotating roster of top chefs guesting on the truck throughout the day.
The Gaztro-Wagon lineup includes Urbanbelly's Bill Kim (12-2), Schwa's Michael Carlson (2:30-4:30), Big Star's Justin Large (5-7) and Girl & The Goat's Stephanie Izard (7:30 to 9:30).
While those chefs will showcase their take on street food, other trucks in attendance include The Southern Mac & Cheese, Tamalespaceship, Sweet Ride Chicago, La Isla Cafe, Hummingbird Kitchen, Haute Sausage, Bergstein's Deli, Flirty Cupcakes, Starfruit Cafe, Sweet Miss Giving's and a preview of the forthcoming Lillie's Q Meat Mobile.
Guests to the event can groove out to musical acts booked by Empty Bottle Presents that include Sanctified Gamblers, Ornery Little Darlings and Only Children, which is doing a DJ set.
The Food Truck Social benefits Share Our Strength and organizers are asking patrons to donate a $5 entry fee to help battle childhood hunger.
