There's something to be said for eating food at the source and for the fourth year in a row, that's exactly what's happening when Spiaggia heads down to the farm, Nichols Farm to be exact.
On Aug. 14, join chef/partner Tony Mantuano and exec chef Sarah Grueneberg, along with their sommelier Jason Carlen, on a chartered bus down to Marengo, Ill., for a day at Nichols. Guests will nosh on snacks on the bus (and this being Spiaggia, you know whatever they serve with the prosecco will be tasty) and be treated to a three-course lunch out in the field (weather pending) featuring Nichols produce along with Becker Lane pork and variety of Mantuano's pizzas.
The bus will leave from Spiaggia (980 N. Michigan Ave.) at 11 a.m. and return at 7 p.m. Tickets, which include transport to and from the farm, a tractor tour of the grounds, food, tax and a host of games (bocce, croquet, horseshoes), cost $150 per person and can still be purchased by calling 312-280-2750 ext. 1004 or via email.
