BlackboardEats Launches in Chicago with Editor Lousia Chu

New, 3 comments

The Chicago daily deal scene just got a little bit more foodie focused. BlackboardEats launches its fourth outpost today here (following SF, LA and NY) with the aim of offering upscale dining options to its subscribers. BBE Chicago launches with editor/food writer/chef/friend to Anthony Bourdain Louisa Chu, who will be responsible to procuring and marketing the deals offered by local restaurants.

The site launches with its first email push with an offer for a $60 five-course "flavor tripping" dinner (that includes three drinks, which with the flavor tripping, each becomes something different) at Homaro Cantu's iNG in the West Loop. The dinner normally goes for $500 exclusively at the lower-level chef's table.

BBE is a free service to subscribers. To get the deal, BBE subscribers request a passcode through the site within 24 hours of the deal going live, which will typically be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Wednesday offering some type of food-related product, according to the Sun-Times; deals must be exercised within a set time period.
