So it's turning out to be a competition between Top Chef and pastry chef news this week in Chicago. Yesterday, Eater National uncovered pictures of Sable Kitchen chef Heather Terhune shopping at Whole Foods as part of Top Chef Texas. Then, earlier today, we learned that Stephanie Prida would depart the Elysian to head up the pastry program at L20. Now news comes that The Bristol's pastry chef, Amanda Rockman, will take part in the second season of Top Chef Just Desserts—combining both pastry and Top Chef news.
Rockman will compete against 13 other pastry chefs (Eater National has the full rundown) from around the country for a $100,000 prize and be critiqued by returning host Gail Simmons and judges Johnny Iuzzini, chef Hubert Keller and Dannielle Kyrillos. Celebrity guest judges include Beastie Boys’ Adam “Ad Rock” Horovitz, the cast of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, Francois Payard and Cat Cora. The season kicks off on August 24 and let's hope we have a few less meltdowns as last year, but just as much addictive drama.
