If having his last day at Millennium Park's Park Grill on Saturday wasn't enough excitement for Bernie Laskowski, there also apparently was a bomb scare in the park to to add to the send off. Fortunately the only real waves made that day were by Laskowski, the longtime exec chef of the popular parkside restaurant.
A call to the restaurant confirmed that Laskowski, who has been with the restaurant since it opened in 2003, did in fact step down. Eater was told by a staffer at Park Grill that an opportunity arose for the chef that is best for him, but didn't have any further details. Laskowski was unavailable for comment as of press time. Park Grill is currently looking for his replacement.
UPDATE: Laskowski got in touch with Eater to say that his departure was amicable and after eight years it was just time. He left to work for Bon Appetit management company.
