La Fonda del Gusto Closes After Two Years, Future Uncertain

Just last fall La Fonda del Gusto was rated one of Chicago Magazine’s best Mexican restaurants in Chicago and now it seems to have shuttered its doors. The closed sign has been up all week during the restaurant’s regular hours and their phone number has been disconnected.

An email from one of the owners confirmed that the restaurant is “closed until further notice,” but no further explanation was given as to what is going on. The old-world Mexican restaurant opened in the summer of 2009 and received a lot of praise. At this point, there's no word on whether La Fonda del Gusto will re-open, which will be a shame for the neighborhood if it remains closed. We will keep you posted as we hear more.
