Chicago is no stranger to its elaborate walk-around food events, but one coming up later this month will honor some of the city's rising chefs, as determined by StarChefs. The May 23 event at the Fairmont Hotel will honor the winners in a variety of categories ranging from chefs and pastry chefs to sommelier and mixologists.
This year's winners include the likes of Shin Thompson (Bonsoiree), Chris Pandel (The Bristol), Stephanie Izard (Girl & The Goat), Andrew Zimmerman (Sepia) and Curtis Duffy (Avenues) in the chef category; Patrick Fahy (Blackbird) in the pastry chef category; Jared Van Camp (Old Town Social) in the "concept" category; Paul McGee (The Whistler) in the mixology category; and Ryan Poli (Tavernita) in the "community" category.
All of the winners will present food and drinks during the three-hour event. Tickets cost $125 for regular admission and $175 for VIP, which includes a private reception with tasting preview, Champagne and Petrossian caviar; a portion of the proceeds will benefit Common Threads. For a full list of the winners and to get tickets, visit the StarChefs website.
