Webster's Crew Names New Spot Smith, On Track for Late June Opening

Plans have been underway since news first broke that the team behind Webster's Wine Bar would open a new spot in Logan Square. Now they have a name: Smith. As in a metalsmith or foodsmith or more simply put, a craftsman. The name reflects the rustic, European-influenced menu that chef John Anderes (avec) is crafting as well as the handpicked small-batch wine and beer list curated by sommelier Jeremy Quinn (Webster's).

As previously mentioned, the 85-seat spot facing Logan Boulevard, will utilize many local ingredients and the menu, featuring a total of approximately 15 plates, will change about every six weeks. The interior is being designed by fc Studio and will incorporate reclaimed wood and vintage elements, with furniture being handmade by craftsmen in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where Webster's partner Tom MacDonald is currently living with his family.

While the space is still in construction mode, the team, which includes partner Jason Normann, is shooting for a late June opening.
