So on that Japanese trend mentioned yesterday, looks like its continuing ... and spreading to the suburbs. Tokio Pub, an izakaya-style restaurant from Lettuce Entertain You, opens its doors tonight in Schaumburg.
The restaurant, adjacent to Shaw's Crab House, will offer dishes inspired by various Asian and Latin cuisine. Chef Naoki Nakashima's menu will feature things like tuna tartare with avocado; shrimp crispy rice; chicken meatballs and barbeque pork belly both done on a robata grill; kim chee three ways; and crispy fish tacos.
The space was designed by 555 International (Girl & The Goat, GT Fish & Oyster) and features Japanese artwork, concrete floors, copper seating and wood tables. Tokio Pub will be open for lunch and dinner everyday, save Sunday, when it's just dinner.
