Popular Boystown eatery Firefly has closed. Eater got a tip over the weekend and called the restaurant yesterday evening; a recording said the phone was temporarily disconnected. Today, a source confirmed with the owner, who didn't want to talk about the situation directly, that the restaurant was, in fact, closed.
The French-leaning bistro opened in 2002 and became a staple in the neighborhood, known for its cozy curtained booths and signature 10-ounce martinis that regulars often sipped at the intimate bar. When asked if the closing was permanent, the source said they thought the owner may retire and added, "It sucks. They'll be missed by the community."
