The New East Side is truly becoming a booming neighborhood—and it will soon have a supermarket all its own. The enclave east of Michigan Avenue and north of Millennium Park with towering buildings, townhouses and a massive park has sprouted seemingly overnight and the development's 105,000 square-foot retail center Village Market Center at Lakeshore East is nearing completion. Once open, it'll be anchored by at 30,000 square-foot Mariano's Fresh Market, a Three Forks steakhouse and a cafe, the Black Coffee Gallery. When they say you never have to leave the neighborhood, they're not kidding. [Curbed Chicago]
