The Chicago beer boom continues and this time a new production facility is being built in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Brothers Jesse Edwin Evans and Samuel Evans are in the process of building the New Chicago Brewing Company, which will produce strong ales in the West Coast style. They say they'll produce two million bottles in the 100 percent-sustainable environment in the first year, starting on March 4, 2012 when it is scheduled to begin selling the beer. Also interesting is the news of The Plant, a vertical farm/food manufacturer that will house the brewery in addition to other food-related projects. We wonder what Upton Sinclair would think of all this. [EaterWire]
