On Monday April 18, Takashi Yagihashi will gather a power group of top Chicago chefs at his intimate Bucktown restaurant to raise much-needed money for Japan in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami that hit his country in March. And while many of the prime reservation spots have been snatched up, there are still spaces in the early and later times.
Takashi will be joined by Paul Kahan (Blackbird), Jimmy Bannos, Sr. (Heaven on Seven), Mindy Segal (Hot Chocolate), Tony Mantuano (Spiaggia), Jimmy Bannos, Jr. (Purple Pig), Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris (Prairie Fire), Bill Kim (Urban Belly), Paul Virant (Vie), Andrew Zimmerman (Sepia), John Hogan (Keefer's), Dean Zanella (Rhapsody) and Sebastien Canonne (French Pastry School).
Tickets for the dinner, which includes wine, tax and tip, are $200 between 5 and 5:30 and 9:30 and 10; between 6 and 9, the price is $250 per person. All proceeds—100 percent—will be donated to relief efforts. A silent auction will be held next door. Call 773-772-6170 for reservations.
