Aviary May Open Next Week; The Bedford Gets a Sign; MK Cooking for Obama; Bristol's New Beer

WEST LOOPThe Aviary will not open tonight. They posted a note on their Facebook wall the the opening will likely be next week. They'll be open 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday ... eventually. [Facebook/GS]

WICKER PARK—The sign and new front door were installed at The Bedford today. The wooden door has a bronze gryphon knocker. Word is that the furniture has been delivered, art is being hung throughout the space and, most important, chef Mark Steuer started cooking in his new kitchen. Let the countdown begin. [EaterWire]

RIVER NORTH—Chefs Michael Kornick and Erick Williams will cook for President Obama during a fundraising dinner at MK on April 14. The menu will consist of all American-based sustainably produced food and wine, including Bill Kurtis' Tall Grass beef, Sweet Water Organics' perch (with Fish Bar's tartar sauce) and wine from Qupe and Au Bon Climat. BUCKTOWNThe Bristol partnered with Flossmoor Station and is now serving its new collaboration beer Saison & Garfunkel. The limited-edition farmhouse ale, which is scented with peppercorns and rosemary, is on tap for $9.
