We have doughnuts, French restaurants and oyster spots popping up, but it seems that the biggest trend in 2011 still continues to be food trucks—and Big Star is getting into the game.
The Wicker Park taqueria won't take it to the streets, however, until the city passes legislation allowing people to cook onboard trucks. Until then, however, they plan to park the truck on the property near the take-out window and are thinking of selling Mexican shaved ice off of it. Additionally, they've had numerous inquiries to cater parties, and the truck can help sort that out.
In other Big Star news, if you were waiting to make your reservation for its collaboration dinner with Publican, you'd better hurry. The dinner is this Sunday (4/17) and is about two-thirds full and you know it's going to sell out.
If you miss that, Big Star will have another beer dinner, this time pairing with The Lost Abbey from California. That four-course dinner will happen on April 26; the menu is still being worked out but they think it'll cost about $35 with pairings.
