Well it looks like the West Loop is the hot new spot for cool new diners. This morning we told you that Stephanie Izard will open the Little Goat this fall and we learned that Brendan Sodikoff, who owns Maude's Liquor Bar and Gilt Bar, will open Ox Diner in the area, too. So are diners the next new trend for 2011?
Sodikoff tells the Dining Diva that he'll open his "gastro diner" this summer in an industrial space in the West Loop. We reached out to Sodikoff who elaborated a bit by saying that it's "located in a historic two-story warehouse on a private courtyard." We're trying to think of where this may be, but it doesn't sound like it's going to be on Randolph.
As for the food, Sodikoff said to expect items like patty melts, butterscotch waffles with poached pears, griddled burgers and a classic apple pancake. Ox Diner will stay open and serve late night, and seeing that they're going to have a bar, Sodikoff promises "stiff cocktails and a focus on the world's best (of the worst) beers," he wrote in an email.
And in case you were wondering, yes, this is the restaurant's logo.
