If high rents don't get you, the tax man might. Crain's reports that Gioco was temporarily shuttered after failing to pay required employee withholding and sales tax payments to the state. The Illinois Department of Revenue suspended the restaurant's retail license, but owner Jerry Kleiner, a partner in KDK Restaurants, said Gioco is making money and they will make good on the payments to get the restaurant back open quickly. This is the third restaurant closure for KDK in the last year. Marché shut it doors back in June, while Opera closed in December. Are we seeing a trend? [Crain's]
