What's more fun than gathering some friends together and making a great dinner? Getting the friends to put together a killer French-inspired dinner for 50, especially when said friends happen to be some of the city's top chefs.
On April 20, Cafe des Architectes' exec chef Greg Biggers and pastry chef Meg Galus will be joined by Chris Pandel (The Bristol), Jared Van Camp (Old Town Social) and Patrick Fahy (Blackbird) for Les Amis du Chef or "Friends of the Chef."
During the five-course meal ($115, includes wine pairings and a Champagne reception), each chef will prepare a special Escoffier-inspired dish based on a classic French recipe, but will add a modern twist. Don't expect to learn the menu beforehand; the chefs want to keep an element of surprise. They will, however, accommodate any food allergies that night.
Cafe des Architects plans to host Les Amis du Chef each quarter and invite different chefs to join them for each one. Biggers has relationships with many local farmers, so there's a good chance a future dinner will have a locavore theme.
The dinner will take place in the Sofitel's private dining room, Cigale, and will be held to 50 guests. Call 312-324-4062 or email to reserve your space.
