LTHforum.com, the Chicago based internet chat site that focuses on all things culinary, just came out with its 2011 list of great neighborhood restaurants, and the list is rather eclectic. Not surprising when you take over 9,000 members that span from expert and opinionated eaters to chefs to neighborhood folk who just love food and you ask them to nominate and decide on a short list of great spots.
The selection process is unique, as each member is only allowed to nominate one restaurant per year, and that place is thoroughly discussed by members until consensus is reached that the place is special enough, in character, or in food to receive the nod.
We aren't surprised that restaurants like The Purple Pig, The Bristol, Anteprima and Xoco made the cut, but didn't expect to see less familiar spots like Mr D's-Shish Kabobs and Peruvian restaurant, D'Candela.
The full list includes: Anteprima, Aroy Thai, Art of Pizza, Avli Estiatorio, Big & Little's, The Bristol, Carniceria y Taqueria Tierra Caliente, D'Candela, Edzo's, Great Sea, Italian Superior Bakery, Kabul House, Lincoln's O, Mr. D's Shish-Kabobs, The Purple Pig, Toons, The Whistler, Xoxo, and Zenwich.
