Back in November, we told you that Simple Sandwich would wind things down for the winter season, citing the dropping temps as the main reason. Owner David Wojtonik told us at the time he would focus on catering and build out the truck to accommodate pending food truck legislation and look for a standalone restaurant space.
Now we learn that Wojtonik has sold the truck to 5411 Empanadas, despite having a good run last fall, and will focus his attention on getting the brick-and-mortar location up and running, likely Downtown. "[The truck] was successful," Wojtonik told Time Out Chicago. "I don't want people to think that it's a reflection of food trucks not working in Chicago."
And it looks like despite looking around since November, Wojtonik still hasn't landed on the perfect location so we'll have to wait a bit longer to get his natural and organic sandwiches.
