The Gage is hosting a special dinner on March 27 that will feature a screening of the documentary Ingredients. The documentary explores the local food movement through each season, and highlights farmers and chefs that are working to create a sustainable food system.
The event is a part of Local Food Wisdom's Locavore dinner, which encourages consumers, chefs and farmers to get together and dialogue with each other about the best ways to collectively strengthen our local food system.
Executive chef Dirk Flanigan of The Gage has prepared a four course meal and will introduce and serve each course between seasons in the film. He will feature ingredients from Cook's Bison Ranch (IN), Nichols Farm (IL), Swan Creek Farm (MI) and Seedling Orchard (MI).
The menu is as follows:
One: Onion Soup, Smoked Pork, Moonglo and Madeira Gelee
Two: Salad of Potato, Beet and Kale, Banyuls vinaigrette
Three: Bison and Lake Superior Whitefish, Black Radish, Cippolini, Aigre-Doux
Four: Maty Knives' House Cheese with Honey Nougat, Hazelnuts, Local Preserves
The screening will take place two days before the film hits major distribution on DVD. DVD's will be sold at the event at a $10 discount, for $20 a piece.
