Pi(e) Day Treats

It's “Pi Day” today (as in 3/14, the first three digits of the famous mathematical constant), a food lover's favorite math-oriented holiday of the year. Because, of course, we're fortunate enough to celebrate it each year with that most perfect circle of buttery crust and rich filling (or topping, as the case may be): pie.

Here are a few sweet and savory spots around town to check out.

Where: Hoosier Mama Pie Company/Gaztro-Wagon
What: No pies at the store today (they're closed Mondays), but we've found them in the back of the Gaztro-Wagon food truck today, which touched down this morning near the Sears, er Willis, Tower. Follow them on Twitter @wherezthewagon to keep up with Hoosier's savory hand pies, slices and treats.

Where: Morton's the Steakhouse
What: Slice of key lime pie in the restaurant or at the bar for $3.14.

Where: Swirlz Cupcakes
What: "Pi" and "Einstein" cupcakes, $3.14, plus a special treat when you mention the Illinois Science Council.

Where: Atropolis Bakery, Cafe and Agora
What: Pi-shaped traditional cookies and their signature "Arto-PI-tas," for $3.14.

Where: My Pie Pizza
What: Let's not forget our most favorite of pies: the pizza. My Pie will be serving hot slices with a fountain drink for $3.14 all day long.
