St. Paddy's: Where to Drink and Dine

Even if St. Paddy's day isn't officially until March 17, that doesn't stop Chicago from going gaga for green the minute the dye hits the river tomorrow morning. We don't know if it's the Irish population, spring in the air or toxins from the river, but one thing is certain, the streets will be packed and food and (lots of) drinks will be in high demand. Here are some places to check out:

1) Where: Chalkboard
What: $20 St. Patrick's Day Dinner featuring Corn Beef and Cabbage will feature local organic beef and pickled sprouts served in cast iron pot with caramelized onions and fingerling potatoes. A milkshake with Bailey's and Jameson can be added for $7.

2) Where: Sable Kitchen & Bar
What: $20 for a flight of three Irish whiskys; Everybody's Irish cocktail: Knappogue Castle 12 year Irish whisky, Green Chartreuse, creme de menthe, fresh lime juice.
When: March 17

3) Where: Prairie Fire
What: Irish themed specials: corned beef spring rolls, corned beef and cabbage, and a Celtic Fizz cocktail.
When: March 17

4) Where: The Gage
What: Special St. Paddy’s menu including in-house made corned beef, and “Coddle” House Rabbit Sausage Roasted Gunthorp Pork Belly, Potato, Mustard, Cabbage.
When: March 12-17, Live music on the 12th

5) Where: Piece
What: $4 Bitburger pints and $4 "Makers Mark Madness Shots," plus college basketball and giant pizzas in every direction you look from 11 a.m. into the night.
When: March 17

6) Where: Northside Bar and Grill
What: Corned beef on rye with "all the fixings" and $4 Rogue Kells Irish Style Lager.
When: March 11-12, live DJ set tonight

7) Where: Chicago Q
What: In-house made Kobe corned beef with Napa cabbage and fingerling potatoes. Cash-and-carry pork sandwiches on the 12th.
When: March 12-17, sandwiches on the 12th only

8) Where: Wilde Bar and Restaurant
What: Green beer, authentic Irish food, and DJs from Ireland starting at 9 a.m.
When: March 12

9) Where: Seasons Restaurant (Four Seasons Chicago)
What: $75 Brunch featuring Galway oysters with Guinness, grilled Irish sea salmon with colcannon potatoes and roasted leg of lamb. Irish dancers and Irish musicians will perform.
When: March 13 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

10) Where: Swirlz Cupcakes
What: Chocolate Guinness Jameson St. Patrick's Day cupcakes and gluten-free Mint Chip Shamrock cupcakes.
When: March 12-19

11) Where: NYC Bagel Deli
What: $3.99 corned beef sandwiches, green bagels and a corned beef eating contest
When: Green bagels and the sandwiches March 12-19; contest March 17 at Wacker location.
