If having one place to party with fresh-made margaritas and table-side-prepared guacamole weren't enough, the team behind Mercadito plans to open Tavernita this summer in the former Martini Park space in River North.
Where Mercadito focuses on upscale Mexican fare, Tavernita will showcase food with more Mediterranean and Latin-influences and reflect more of an European brasserie. The 334-seat space will have three distinct areas: the Barcito in front for cocktails; a main dining area and a dining lounge. The restaurant will also have a 40-seat sidewalk patio. Watch for Tavernita to arrive some time this summer.
