After a less-successful event in 2011, the Taste of Chicago will be shortened to five days. The move will see the city's big food event slashed in half and moved to the middle of the month to July 11 to 15 (it previously started in late June). The city now wants the Taste to refocus its attention to help showcase Chicago's "foodie" culture to try to help bring it back to profitability and increase attendance, which saw a drop by 300,000 people last year.
