Where to Dine in Chicago During Hanukkah

Hanukkah starts at sundown next Tuesday, Dec. 20 and there are eight crazy nights to celebrate. Whether you feel like a big night out on the town, a latke dinner or eating the traditional Hanukkah delicacies in the comfort of your own home (without doing the work) we have you covered. 1) Mercadito
What: The 25th annual Matzo Ball. The holiday party claims to have sparked over 1,000 marriages.
When: December 24 at 8 p.m.
How much: VIP ticket is $65, which includes five-course sharing menu and one beverage per person, General admission, $30.

2) Hearty
What: A few Hanukkah specials including: chopped liver with challah toast, smoked beef brisket with potato sage latke, carrot & dried fruit tzimmes and sufganiyot (a traditional Israeli jelly doughnut) for dessert.
When: The duration of Hanukkah

3) City Provisions
What: Winter holiday menu including portobello and cranberry brisket and latkes with ginger apple sauce. Expect to see a weekly latke special as well.
When: Now through the holidays.

4) Hub 51
What: Hub 51's Hubukkah party. Hub 51 staples with tunes by DJ Poptastic. $5 chicken egg rolls and Manischewitz sangria on special.
When: Dinner until 2 a.m.

5) Studio Paris
What: Eight Nights in Paris, a swanky party that includes passed appetizers, free cocktails from 9 to 10:30 p.m. and more.
When: December 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m.
How much: $10 online, $20 at the door.

6) Eleven City Diner
What: "High latke tea" featuring their ju pu platter, two kreplach and two mini latkes, or their latke platter with two latkes with a side of applesauce and sour cream. Hot tea included at no extra charge.
When: every day of Hanukkah at 2:30 p.m.

7) Angel Food Bakery
What: Latke specials for breakfast with creme fraiche, homemade apple sauce or smoked salmon. Add brisket for lunch or a poached egg for brunch.
When: Throughout Hanukkah

8) Butcher and the Burger
What: A few items in the deli case including chicken liver pate.
When: Call the shop (773-697-3735) for details and what's in the case daily.

9) The Goddess and Grocer
What: A plethora of menu items for take-out or catering including zucchini and sweet potato latkes, matzo ball soup, noodle kugel, and Hanukkah-decorated cupcakes.
When: December 19 through December 28

What: Half-off latkes when you order two dozen or more plus Hanukkah catering available.
When: Throughout Hanukkah.

11) Leopold
What: Check out their brew Jewbelation 15 from He'brew that they will have on tap in honor of Hanukkah.
