'Tis the season to get fueled up before that big meal on Thursday. Whether you are looking to get away from the family or just meeting up with some friends, there are plenty of food and drink specials happening on Black Wednesday. Some festivities will take you around the city on bar crawls, while another will have you eating bizarre food with turkey testicles. So without further ado, here are a select few of the many events going on.
1) Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar
Where: 230 W. Erie St.
What: Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar will be rocking with music by DJ Flaco alongside signature cocktails from Adam Seger of Hum Spirits. There will also be complimentary sushi and skewers served throughout the evening.

2) McGee's, Wrightwood Tap, Durkin's, Duffy's, Redmond's, Maeve
Where: Various Bars
What: Get basted the night before Thanksgiving with a “Turkey Trolley Trot.” Taking place from 8-11 p.m., the crawl will hit six different bars. The $20 meal package includes a food buffet, domestic drafts, a “pilgrim punch” and trolley transportation to the various bars. Tickets can be purchased here.

3) Bridge Bar
Where: 315 N. LaSalle St.
What: Turkey lovers can get a head start on the action a night earlier with Bridge Bar’s “Turkey Night.” Enjoy a drive-thru turkey burger, featuring house-ground turkey topped with homemade cranberry sauce, washed down by a craft beer for $8. $2 Wild Turkey “you-call-its” will also be available to replenish thirsty birds.

4) Porkchop
Where: 941 W. Randolph
What: Porkchop looks to wash the night away with its Blackout Wednesday specials. Drinks include the Blackout (PBR and whiskey shot) and Crazy Train Shots (three shots – vodka pineapple, cranberry and apple pucker). Local punk band The Frantic will provide the entertainment.

5) The Southern
Where: 1840 W. North
What: Have a very Wild Turkey Black Wednesday at the Southern. There will be Wild Turkey bourbon samples, $5 Wild Turkey ball shots, $3 Coors Lite and a $40 drink package alongside a DJ dropping the tunes.

6) SmallBar
Where: SmallBar Division at 2049 W. Division; SmallBar Fullerton at 1415 W. Fullerton
What: SmallBar will be wrapping up the fall season by tapping their last keg of Southern Tier’s Pumpkin Imperial Ale. Making a return for one night only will be the Pumpkin Whip cocktail and Black Wednesday beer specials will include a $4 SmallBar pale ale and $4 allagash.

7) Midtown Kitchen & Bar
Where: 203 N. LaSalle
What: Midtown Kitchen & Bar will offer a very Chicago 3-1-2 special all day long on Black Wednesday. House cocktails will be $3, domestic draft beers will be $2 and glasses of Champagne will be $1.

8) Jack's Bar & Grill and 404 Wine Bar
Where: Jack's Bar & Grill at 2856 N. Southport; 404 Wine Bar at 2852 N. Southport
What: Are you a hungry and stranded student with nowhere to go? Jack’s Bar & Grill and 404 Wine Bar has you covered. On Black Wednesday and Friday Nov. 25, diners can take 50 percent off their food and drink bill with a valid student i.d.

9) The Pony, Lotties Pub, The Frontier
Where: The Pony at 1638 W. Belmont; Lottie's Pub at 1925 W. Cortland; The Frontier at 1072 N. Milwaukee
What: Cheer on the Chicago Blackhawks during this Black Wednesday trolley crawl. A Blackhawks viewing party with announcer Gene Honda and the Ice Girls will take place at The Pony, while Lottie's Pub will feature karaoke. Finally, live music and a patio campfire at the Frontier should help keep even the coldest hockey fans warm. Free beer and Malibu Black cocktails will be stocked on board the trolley to keep the party going.

What: A complementary menu sampling will be available and washing down the grub will be $4 craft beer drafts, $15 sangria pitchers and $5 bomb shots.

11) Timothy O'Toole's
Where: 622 N. Fairbanks
What: Prove your love of turkey at Timothy O’Toole’s “Turkey Testicle Festival.” At 9 p.m., the fun gets started with a turkey testicle eating contest followed by a pumpkin pie eating contest. Onlookers can still get a taste of the action with $6.99 fried turkey testicle buckets, half-price Guinness Blacklist drafts and $2 Miller and Coors Lite pints.

12) Paramount Room

What: The River West bar and restaurant will celebrate Black Wednesday with several drink specials including $2.50 PBR cans, $5 shot and a beer, $3 house shots as well as jello shots.

13) Tzar Ultra Lounge
Where: 215 W. Ontario
What: The engines will be revving at Tzar Ultra Lounge’s “Black Out Affair.” Come dressed in black attire and catch a glimpse of a display of luxury black automobiles. There will also be a complimentary Champagne bar between 10-11 p.m.

What: Dance the night away as DJ Danniboi spins the hottest jams at John Barleycorn. Chow down on all-you-can-eat fish and chips for $8.95 and drink up on $3 Sam Adams drafts, $4 well drinks and $4 glasses of wine.
