On November 15, restaurants across the city and country will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Vanberg & DeWulf with a Coast to Coast Toast event. The Belgian beer importer will be hosting simultaneous gatherings at several Chicago locations including Leopold, Bangers & Lace, Haymarket Pub & Brewery and many more. Serving as the official headquarters for the event will be the Publican, which will also be offering a special menu for the evening. Vanberg & DeWulf has worked with chef Paul Kahan to craft a dinner to match its indigenous beer styles.
Diners will have the option of an 'inspiration box' six-course prix fixe menu for $65 per person. The meal will represent the best of the Publican's beer-friendly fare. Highlights include smoked mussel crostini, Dungeness crab with almond pesto and traditional speculoos cookies. A six-course beer pairing will also be available with the dinner for $20, offering distinctive Vanberg & DeWulf beers ranging from gruits and lambics to cognacs and fruity ales. Other Belgian breweries whose beers will be featured at the festivities are DeCam, Slaghmuylder, Dubuisson, and DuPont, among various others.
The Publican dinner will take place Nov. 15 from 5:30 to 10:30, with seatings every 30 minutes. For a full list of Coast to Coast Toast participating restaurants and bars, check out the official event page.
