What is it with L20 making announcements right around the time the Michelin stars are revealed? Last year, the day after the restaurant earned three stars, executive chef Laurent Gras revealed he was leaving to move back to New York. Francis Brennan ultimately took over the top spot and earned many accolades from local food critics. But this morning, the restaurant sent out a release saying Brennan is stepping aside to work on a future project with Lettuce Entertain You, which owns L20.
But with Brennan now moving into a consulting role that opens up a space in L20's kitchen and that's being filled by Matthew Kirkley who was just promoted to executive chef. Kirkley, who was on the opening team at L20 before moving on to work at Ria for a stint, has also worked at NoMI and the Four Seasons. Expect to see some gorgeous seafood preparations like these.
