There's lots of good stuff happening at Half Acre Beer Co. this week, namely pale ales and cheese. Today, the brewery dropped its the first of two new releases, Mr. Ouroboros. This German-American wet-hop pale ale that was brewed with kolsch yeast is currently available at the brewery's store in growlers ($15 if you bring your own; $19 if you need to buy one).
On Friday, Half Acre is introducing Tasty Waves pale ale in both growlers ($14 or $18) and bombers ($6.99). And you can even get a Tasty Waves T-shirt for $20. Both beers will be released to the public at noon on their respective days and if you know the die-hards, these may go quickly.
On Saturday, Half Acre will host a pop-up cheese shop starting at 3 p.m. at the brewery featuring Cellars at Jasper Hill cheese and Elmore Mountain bread. The pop-up will feature a variety of cheeses and breads (for purchase to eat then or packages to take away) and if you get the cheese you will also be treated to a flight of specialty brews. The pop-up will go until 6 p.m. when the party will shift to Lush Wine & Spirits (1412 W. Chicago) for a ticketed tasting event from 6:30 to 9:30. Contact Lush for tickets and more information at 312-666-6900.
