As part of Eater's first ever Chinese Food Week, chefs at four Chicago restaurants that don't serve Chinese food agreed to make a special limited-edition dish, served just this week. Every day we'll highlight a new dish, starting with today's duck and rock shrimp wonton at GT Fish & Oyster.
Executive chef Giuseppe Tentori and sous chef Jessica Carney collaborated on the duck and rock shrimp wonton they're serving at the restaurant all this week (through Sunday) at lunch and dinner for $8.
Tentori, who said it's challenging for him to do Asian dishes, explains the dish: "We wanted to do something Chinese on the menu and an Italian making a Chinese dish is funny. I'm an Italian making clam chowder and an lobster roll, so why not Chinese? We had to do something with seafood and we've been trying to incorporate more meat products with the seafood. This is duck and rock shrimp and, really, it was just fun."
